Mendham Primary School

Locality Committee

The role of a Locality Committee (LC) is an important one. It is to provide focused governance at a local level and it is the intention of The Trust that LCs will have the highest level of autonomy appropriate to their Academy School. The LC monitors the Academy’s development plan and key performance indicators. It acts as a critical friend to the Academy Head and Senior Leadership Team, offering challenge and support.

The LC carries out its duties on behalf of the Board of Trustees in accordance with policies determined by the Trust Board. The act of delegation from the Trust Board to LCs is a delegation of powers and duties and not a delegation of responsibilities. The LC will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and will implement any advice or recommendations made.

I am the parent of a child at Mendham Primary School and have recently joined the Locality Committee as a member of the Pupil Experience Team. I am excited to learn more about the running of the school and have the chance to be involved.

I have been a Clinical Psychologist (or a ‘feelings doctor’ as my daughter says!) for 17 years and spent lots of time working with children, young people and their families. I am an active member of my church and I also enjoy attending activities at Mendham Church. In my spare time I like reading, being in the countryside and spending time with family and friends.

I love working with children and I hope that I can use my experience to help the Locality Committee and school work together to enable all the pupils to flourish.

With my daughter halfway through her time at Mendham, I thought it was time to give something back.

As an educational supplier for over 20 years, and latterly as a company director, I wanted to be able to use my skillset to help positively enhance the learning environment and to help out in some small way.

Up until recently, I have been actively involved in Bungay Tennis Club, but a long-term injury has forced me to reconsider, so freeing up some spare time for me to get involved in helping to raise the school's already upward trajectory.
