In Pine Class we have been working hard learning how to write non-chronological reports about minibeasts. This week we worked in small groups and produced these amazing reports about caterpillars! Our next step will be to research a different minibeast and planned and write an independent piece using all the features of reports we have learnt about.

Sycamore class have been looking at statistics this week in maths. They have been looking at reading and interpreting bar charts and learning how to record data in tables. The pupils competed against each other to see who could move items the quickest using tweezers and recorded each others time using stopwatches. The pupils then used their data to create dual line graphs and ask questions about the data they had recorded. Lovely to see the children being active with their learning!

Thank you to all the parents who took the time to complete the Parental survey for our school.

Assemblies for Mendham this term:

Today we were joined by Lindsey from South Norfolk Council (Diss Swimming pool) who came to speak to the whole school about the importance of water safety. The children learnt more about where it is or is not safe to swim and the importance of learning both to swim but to also get out of water safely. Who to call in an emergency and keeping together. https://www.rlss.org.uk/Pages/Category/water-safety-information #RLSSUK

Sycamore class have been extremely busy over the last few days. They had been set the task to create a presentation based on Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution and to explain their learning to the other classes and staff of the school. The children worked fabulously, either independently or in small groups and created some fantastic displays! They produced biographies of Charles Darwin, information texts about the Galapagos Islands and it's animals and habitats, as well as designing and making their own topographical Islands! It was great to see how engaged, invested and enthusiastic the children were with the project, linking lots of subjects throughout the curriculum. Well done to everyone!
